Where Is Vedana Lagoon? Location & Getting There

Vedana Lagoon sits in Phu Loc, on the south shore of Cau Hai Lagoon: 26 km from Phu Bai airport, about 40 km south of central Hue and 60 km north of Da Nang airport. It is neither in a town nor on the sea. You arrive by car, then use the resort’s free shuttles for Hue and the beach, or a taxi for anything else along Highway 1.

Arriving, leaving and day trips from Vedana Lagoon

26 km · about 30 min

From Phu Bai Airport, Hue

This is the closest airport, served mainly by domestic flights. In October 2026 the resort’s own transfer was priced at roughly USD 52 a vehicle per direction, available day and night with 48 hours’ notice. A metered taxi costs roughly VND 500,000–550,000, going by reports from mid-2025. A few rates on the booking page already include an airport shuttle; the rate name says so.

Take the resort car if you land after dark or want a driver who already knows the turn off Highway 1. Take a taxi if you land in daytime, travel light and are happy to show the driver the street address.

60 km · 1 hr–1 hr 15 by tunnel

From Da Nang International Airport

Drivers normally head north on Highway 1 through the Hai Van road tunnel, then past Lang Co. The old road over the Hai Van Pass is the scenic option: on our routing it adds about 15 km and at least 40 minutes before photo stops. The resort does not publish a Da Nang transfer price; it is on request — ask the resort when you book.

Fly into Da Nang if you are arriving on an international flight or pairing your stay with Hoi An. Fly into Hue if a domestic connection to Phu Bai works for you — it halves the drive.

From Hue city or the railway station

From Hue the road runs south on Highway 1 past Phu Bai. Hue station is 38 km away; the resort can collect you there for an extra charge, arranged in advance. Cau Hai station is only about 5 km from the resort, but we could not confirm which trains stop there, so most rail travelers get off in Hue.

Arrive by train if you are coming down the coast line from the north and like to travel by rail. Skip the train if your train arrives late at night and no pickup has been confirmed in writing.

The free Hue shuttle day

The shuttle leaves the resort at 9:30 am and stops at Tropical Garden, a restaurant at 27 Chu Van An Street, and at the Imperial City. The ride home leaves Tropical Garden at 3:30 pm. Allowing for the drive, you get roughly four and a half to five hours in the city. Reserve a seat at least 12 hours ahead; it cannot carry you in or out on arrival or departure day.

Use the shuttle if the Imperial City and lunch in town are the plan for the day. Hire a car if you also want the royal tombs outside the city, or to stay for dinner.

Beach days: Canh Duong and Lang Co

The resort has no beach of its own. Its free beach shuttle leaves at 10:30 am for Canh Duong and collects guests at 2 pm, running only in good weather and with 12 hours’ notice. Lang Co, about 30 minutes south by taxi, has a longer stretch of sand and seafood restaurants around Lap An Lagoon.

Take the shuttle if a few hours of sand and sea around midday is all you need. Go to Lang Co if you want to stay into the afternoon or have dinner by the water — book a taxi both ways.

Bach Ma National Park and Elephant Springs

The Bach Ma turn-off is on Highway 1, 2 km from the resort. Reports from 2025 say private cars must stop at Km 12 inside the park, and entry was about VND 65,000 per adult in 2025–2026 reports. Elephant Springs, 20 km away, is a set of boulder-lined swimming pools reached by a small road of about 4 km off the highway.

Go on your own if you have a driver for the day and are fit for forest trails and stairs. Book a resort tour if you would rather leave park transport to someone else; tour prices are on request.

Getting in and out of Vedana Lagoon without fuss

01

Book the car with the villa

The resort car needs 48 hours’ notice. Send your flight number and landing time when you book, and ask for the confirmed price for your airport in writing.

02

Reserve shuttles the night before

Both free shuttles need 12 hours’ notice. For the 9:30 am Hue run, tell the front desk by 9:30 pm the evening before, and confirm the beach run the same way.

03

Keep October and November flexible

This is flood season around Hue. In late October 2025 a station in Bach Ma set a national rainfall record, and roads and the beach shuttle can be disrupted.

Honest note

Vedana Lagoon is a place you drive to and stay in. Beyond the grounds there is nowhere to stroll to, Hue’s sights are 45 to 60 minutes away, the beach shuttle depends on the weather and we could not confirm that ride-hailing cars reach Phu Loc. Taxi drivers may not know the English name, and the Hue shuttle back leaves at 3:30 pm.

Questions about getting to Vedana Lagoon

Why is Vedana Lagoon described as on Tam Giang Lagoon when maps show Cau Hai?

Both names are right. Tam Giang–Cau Hai is one long lagoon system running along the coast past Hue. The resort, and much of the press, uses Tam Giang, the name of the whole system, while maps label the southern basin where Vedana Lagoon sits as Cau Hai Lagoon. If you search for “Tam Giang Lagoon” in a map app, you will land about 40 km north, near Hue.

Why does the Vedana Lagoon address say Hue City and Phu Loc Commune?

Vietnam reorganized its local government in 2025. Thua Thien Hue province became Hue City at the start of the year, and from July 2025 the old Phu Loc town merged with two neighboring communes into Phu Loc Commune. The resort is in the same place: 41/23 Doan Trong Truyen Street. Older listings that say Phu Loc town, Thua Thien Hue, point to the same spot.

Is the Hai Van Pass worth it on the way to Vedana Lagoon from Da Nang?

It is if the weather is clear and you have time. The pass road climbs to about 496 meters with views over Da Nang Bay and Lang Co, while the tunnel is faster. On our routing the pass adds about 15 km and at least 40 minutes before stops. Agree the route and any extra charge with your driver before you set off for Vedana Lagoon.

Can I reach Vedana Lagoon by train?

Yes, via Hue station, 38 km and about 45–55 minutes away by car. The resort offers station pickups for an extra charge, booked ahead. Cau Hai station is closer, about 5 km from Vedana Lagoon, but we could not confirm which trains stop there or whether taxis wait. If you plan to use it, ask the resort when you book whether a driver can meet you.

How do I get from Vedana Lagoon to Hoi An?

Hoi An is about 85 km south, roughly 1 hour 30 to 1 hour 45 minutes by car through the Hai Van tunnel and past Da Nang. That makes it a long day trip rather than a quick outing. The resort sells a private tour to Da Nang and Hoi An via Lang Co and the Hai Van Pass; the price is on request — ask the resort when you book.

Is Lang Co a good stop on the drive to Vedana Lagoon?

Yes, it sits right on the route from Da Nang, about 30 minutes before Vedana Lagoon. The town lies on a sandy spit between the sea and Lap An Lagoon, with seafood restaurants along the water. A stop for lunch or a walk on the beach adds an hour or so. Tell your driver when you book the transfer, since a stop may change the price.

Can I visit Bach Ma National Park from Vedana Lagoon without a tour?

You can, but you need a car. The park turn-off is 2 km from Vedana Lagoon and the gate about 3 km further. Reports from 2025 say private vehicles must stop at Km 12, with park transport above that point, and adult entry was about VND 65,000 in 2025–2026 reports. The resort also sells a private Bach Ma tour; its price is on request.
