Vedana Lagoon · Review
Is Vedana Lagoon Worth It? Who It Suits and Who It Doesn’t
Yes, if you want two to four quiet nights on the water: Vedana Lagoon gives you lagoon sunsets, villas with their own pools and staff that guests single out again and again. It is a poor base for touring Hue, which sits 45 to 60 minutes away by car. Below, each part of the stay gets a verdict in words, and every strength or weakness comes with something you can check yourself. Facts come from the resort’s published information; guest comments come from reviews we read in October 2026.

Vedana Lagoon review, criterion by criterion
Eight things decide whether a stay here works for you. The verdicts are ours, in words rather than stars, and each rests on the facts and guest comments in the right-hand column.
| Criterion | Our verdict | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Setting & views | Excellent | A 27-hectare forested headland on Cau Hai Lagoon with mountains on the far shore. Guests mention the sunsets more than anything else. |
| Villas | Very good | Over-water and hillside villas from 130 m² up, most with a private pool. Some of the original villas from around 2012 show their age. |
| Pools | Excellent | A 50-meter infinity pool, the 36-meter Cape pool and a heated indoor pool are shared by all guests, on top of the private villa pools. |
| Spa & wellness | Very good | Treatment pavilions on stilts, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi with any treatment, and free tai chi and yoga every morning. Treatment prices are not published. |
| Food & drink | Mixed | Guests praise the breakfast spread, but report that dinner choice narrows after a few nights, that prices run above local restaurants and that vegetarian dishes are few. |
| Location for sightseeing | Weak | Hue is 45–60 minutes by car and Da Nang airport about an hour. Free shuttles to Hue and Canh Duong Beach help, but only at fixed times. |
| Families | Good, with care | Kids Club from 8 am to 8 pm, free cots, under-4s free in their parents’ bed. Open water and unfenced villa pools need close watching. |
| Value | Good for 2–4 nights | You get a lot of space and pool per guest. Meals and extras add up, and longer stays feel the distance from town the most. |
Verdicts reflect the resort’s published information and guest reviews read in October 2026. Vietnam’s tourism administration recognized Vedana Lagoon as a 5-star hotel in April 2023.
What works at Vedana Lagoon, and what does not
Strength · Setting
Sunsets over the lagoon
The over-water villas line the shore of Cau Hai Lagoon with layered mountains on the far side, and guests rank the evening light among the best parts of a stay. The Twilight infinity pool runs along the same shore, and its piano lounge serves drinks from 3:30 pm.
Worth it if watching the light change over water from your own terrace is why you travel. Think twice if you want waves and sand; the lagoon is for views and kayaks, not the sea.

A private pool at your door
Five or six of the ten room types come with their own pool, from about 6.3 by 2.5 meters on the over-water villas to 9 by 4.5 meters on the hillside ones. Villas start at 130 m², and the space inside and out is one of the things guests praise most often.
Worth it if you plan to spend long afternoons at the villa rather than out on trips. Think twice if you travel with toddlers; an unfenced pool above open water means constant supervision.

Room to cycle, walk and switch off
The resort covers 27 hectares of headland, with shoreline roads, bicycles for guests and the ARA Bird Garden, home to macaws and peacocks. Guests describe nights as very quiet, and mornings begin gently with free tai chi and yoga sessions before 9 am.
Worth it if you need a rest after busy days in Hanoi, Hue or Hoi An. Think twice if you like bars, shops and street life within walking distance.
Check rates & availability →Weakness · Location
Far from the sights of Hue
The Imperial City is about 40 km away, 45 to 60 minutes by car, and Hoi An about 85 km. The free Hue shuttle leaves at 9:30 am and comes back at 3:30 pm, which covers one city day but not daily touring. Guests report the time on the road as the main drawback.
Worth it if you will see Hue on one shuttle day and rest on the others. Think twice if you want the citadel, the tombs and the river spread over several days.
Check rates & availability →Weakness · Lagoon & weather
A lagoon to look at, not swim in
Swimming happens in the pools, which the resort lists as the places to swim, and a 2013 visitor account described brown water near the shore. From September to February rain is frequent, some guests mention outdoor facilities closing in heavy rain, and several recent guest reviews (up to October 2026) describe mosquitoes after sunset.
Worth it if you come for calm water, kayaks and views, and you pack repellent. Think twice if swimming in open water is part of your idea of a holiday.
Check rates & availability →Weakness · Food & upkeep
Meals and older fittings
Breakfast gets steady praise, but some guests say the dinner menu feels limited after a few nights, that prices run well above those of local eateries and that vegetarian dishes are scarce. The first villas date from around 2012, and some guests point to dated fittings while still calling the upkeep good.
Worth it if you are staying a few nights and happy to take a taxi out for one dinner. Think twice if you need a wide vegetarian menu for a week or more.

Getting the most from a stay at Vedana Lagoon
01
Who it suits best
Couples, honeymooners and families with children past the toddler stage get the most from it. Travelers who want nightlife, a beach on the doorstep or a base for daily Hue sightseeing are usually happier somewhere else.
02
Which season to choose
March to August is the drier stretch, best for the outdoor pools and evenings on the terrace. October and November bring the heaviest rain and frequent floods, so pick a flexible rate if you travel then.
03
How many nights to stay
Two nights covers the pools, the spa and a sunset; three or four lets you add a shuttle day in Hue or a trip to Bach Ma without rushing. On longer stays, plan a few meals or outings beyond the resort to vary the routine.
Honest note
Vedana Lagoon is a place to stay put rather than a base to tour from. Some guests report mosquitoes at dusk, older reviews mention short Wi-Fi dropouts, and the resort has no lifts, with slopes and steps up to the hillside villas.
More questions about whether Vedana Lagoon is worth it
Is one night at Vedana Lagoon enough?
One night is short for Vedana Lagoon. With check-in at 3 pm and check-out at 11 am you get one evening, one sunset and a morning swim, and the drive from either airport takes a slice of both days. If one night is all you have, choose a water villa so the evening counts, and treat the stay as a stop on the road between Hue and Hoi An.
Is Vedana Lagoon a good choice for a honeymoon?
It is one of the things the resort does best. The Water Pool Villas put a private pool on a deck over the lagoon, the spa sells couples’ packages of four to five hours, and the Horizon Honeymoon Point is set aside for private dinners. Ask the resort what it can arrange for newlyweds when you book; any extras are on request and priced separately.
Is Vedana Lagoon really a five-star resort?
Yes. Vietnam’s tourism administration recognized Vedana Lagoon as a 5-star hotel, and the provincial tourism department announced it in April 2023. The resort opened around 2012 and was extended in 2020 with new villas, the 50-meter Twilight pool and the DayBreak restaurant. It belongs to Vedana Collection, a Vietnamese group, rather than to an international chain.
What do guests complain about most at Vedana Lagoon?
In reviews we read in October 2026, the recurring complaints are mosquitoes and other insects in the evening, the long drives to Hue and Da Nang, and meals: limited choice after a few days, prices above local restaurants and few vegetarian dishes. Smaller numbers of guests mention dated fittings in the older villas or outdoor facilities closing in rain.
Is Vedana Lagoon worth it in the rainy season?
It can be, if you plan for indoor days. Rain is frequent from September to February, and October and November bring the heaviest downpours and floods; in late October 2025, 1,739.6 mm fell in 24 hours at the Bach Ma station near the resort, a Vietnamese record. The heated indoor pool and the spa keep wet days useful, but the beach shuttle only runs in good weather.
Should I split my trip between Hue and Vedana Lagoon?
For most first-time visitors, yes. A night or two in Hue puts the citadel and the tombs close by, and then two to four nights at Vedana Lagoon gives you the rest. The resort lies on the route between Hue and Da Nang, about 40 km south of central Hue, so it fits naturally as the next stop on the way to Hoi An.
Is the breakfast at Vedana Lagoon worth having in your rate?
Guests regularly praise the variety of the Vietnamese and Western buffet, served at DayBreak until 10 am, so most people are glad to have it. The price of adding breakfast on the spot is not consistently published, and the nearest alternatives are a drive away. Compare rates with and without breakfast on the booking page; the gap is usually the clearest guide.
